Songshan (TSA) or Taoyuan (TPE)? Choosing Your Taipei Airport
Updated 2026-10-01 · 5 min read
Taipei is served by two airports with very different roles. Your ticket usually decides which one you use — but knowing the difference helps you plan pickup times and transfer fares.
Two airports, two roles
Songshan Airport (TSA) is inside Taipei City and mainly serves domestic routes, cross-strait flights and selected regional routes. Taoyuan Airport (TPE) is Taiwan’s main international gateway, handling most long-haul and low-cost carriers.
Ride times from central Taipei
The distance difference is significant — factor it into your schedule:
| Airport | Location | Ride from Taipei Main Station |
|---|---|---|
| Songshan (TSA) | Taipei City | about 15–25 minutes |
| Taoyuan (TPE) | Taoyuan City | about 45–60 minutes |
Fares and booking
Both airports are served with the same fixed-fare model: fares depend on your pickup district and car type, shown instantly at booking. Songshan rides are usually shorter and often cheaper than Taoyuan rides for the same district; the exact fare is quoted before you confirm.
Transfers between the two airports
If you need to move between TSA and TPE (for example, a domestic connection before an international flight), you can book a point-to-point transfer in either direction. Enter both airports as your pickup and drop-off to see the fixed fare.
